Abstract:

this study investigated reliability, validity and confirmatory factor structure of the Core Self-Evaluations Scale (CSES; Judge, Erez, Bono & Thoresen, 2003). Six hundred and twenty two students (198 males, 424 females) were selected using multi-stage sampling method. The participants completed the CSES, the Personal Views Survey (PVS; Hardiness Institute, 1985), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (1965), the Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES; Judge, Locke, Durham & Kluger, 1998), the Internality, Powerful Others and Chance Scale (IPC; Levenson, 1981), the Youth Coping Index (YCI; McCubbin, Thompson & Elver, 1996), the Neuroticism Scale of the Eysenck Personality Inventory (Eysenck & Eysenck, 1968), the Beck Depression Inventory-Short Form (BDI-SF; Beck & Beck, 1972). The factor structure of theCSESwas assessed by exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. The results indicated that the CSES had a good internal consistency. The Cronbach α and 2-weeks test-retest reliability were.87 and.82, respectively. The positive correlation of the CSES with the Personal Views Survey, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale, the Internality, Powerful Others and Chance Scale, and the Youth Coping Index indicated the convergent validity of the CSES. The negative correlation of the CSES with the Neuroticism Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory indicated the divergent validity of the CSES. The factorial analyses indicated that the CSES Scale was unidimensional. The findings suggest that the Core Self-Evaluations Scale has a good psychometric properties in a sample of Iranian Students.

Abstract:

Water flooding is one of the most influential methods for pressure maintenance and enhanced oil recovery. However, water flooding is likely to develop the formation of oilfield Scale. Scale formation in reservoirs, due to the mixing of injection water and formation water, could cause formation damage and production limit. Therefore, it is necessary to simulate the compatibility of brine and injection water. Scale prediction is performed using many thermodynamic and/or kinetic based models. In this study, simulations with speciation (ion pairing) are studied, which is a thermodynamic based tool. The utilization of reservoir conditions, formation water analysis, and sea water analysis as the inputs in this method resulted to the accurate prediction of potential Scales. In this study, the factors impacting on the Scale potential such as pH, temperature, and mixing ratio were also investigated. The obtained results showed that calcite and aragonite were the major Scale potential to precipitate. Finally, the results illustrated the important effect of pH and temperature on different Scales formation.

Abstract:

Introduction: Measurement of child anxiety during dental treatment is a challenge during the procedure. Several questionnaires have been developed to assess child anxiety, some of which are pictorial to facilitate their application in children. The aim of the current study was to evaluate validity of new RMS pictorial questionnaire and to compare it with previous Scales, including Venham Picture Test (VPT) and Facial Image Scale (FIS), to assess child dental anxiety during their first visit in a dental office.Materials & Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 10 children in Shiraz in 2016, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The children's anxiety was evaluated by RMS-PS, VPT and FIS questionnaires. To assess reliability, questionnaires were given to the children at a two-week interval. Data were analyzed with t-test and regression correlation test (a=0.05).Results: Age and gender had no effect on children's anxiety, but in the presence of preoperative pain, anxiety was significantly higher. RMS had a moderate (r=0.622) and significant (p value<0.001) correlation with VPT questionnaire and a good (r= 0.700) and significant (p value<0.001) correlation with the FIS questionnaire. In addition, the relationship between FIS and VPT questionnaires was moderate (r= 0.623) and significant (p value<0.001).Conclusion: The results showed that RMS questionnaire is not reliable. However, it was valid compared to FIS and VPT questionnaires. Therefore, RMS can be used to indicate child dental anxiety as a proper tool.

Abstract:

In this research, utilizing the concepts of thermohydraulic theory, optimization of cost due to the Scale formation in heat exchangers. The objective function involves the minimization of the energy consumption and production losses. First, via ASPEN we simulated shortcuts of exchangers in order to examine the effects of temperature and velocity on the Scale formation. The project optimization was done by GAMS and due to the presence of nonlinear terms in the Scale rate equations using CONOPT solver. For better results, Heat Exchanger 4131 and 4132 in Khorasan petrochemical Co. urea unit were used. The investigation shows that for the twin exchangers under study, first, the Scale formation reduces cooling water flow by up to 40% in E4132. Second, the optimal values for minimizing cost of Scale formation in the exchangers occurs at a cooling water flow rate of 152442.75 kg/h for the exchanger 4132 to reduce the cost by 15%.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: Bordetella pertussis is a gram-negative cocobacilli bacterium and etiologic agent of whooping cough that in recent years, the number of its cases is on the rise. The ability of biofilm production helps this bacterium in interference with host immune system, severity of illness and antibiotic sensitivity. Thus, due to the importance of this factor, in this investigation, we tested the ability of Bordetella pertussis isolates in biofilm formation.Materials and Methods: Nasopharyngeal samples were collected from persons who suspected whooping cough from throughout of Iran from 2014 to 2016 and were transferred to pertussis reference laboratory in Pasteur Institute of Iran. The bacterium in question was isolated by culture so that finally we had 20 positive samples. At the end, we performed in vitro biofilm formation test for isolated strains. Results: All of the 20 clinical samples of Bordetella pertussis which in this study were examined could form biofilm and their final OD became between 0.606 and 1.212, the power of the biofilm made by them was intermediate. Conclusion: Findings of this study was similar to researches conducted by other researchers, which showed the ability of the strains of Bordetella pertussis to form biofilm and to create adverse effects on the host for example antibiotic resistance, illness severity, and so on. Thus, considering the importance of this issue, more and broader researches are needed in this area.

Abstract:

Scaling is known as one of the most important issues and limitation in aqueous systems, which involved several industries. Applying an efficient, economic and environment friendly solution to control Scale formation is challenging. Scaling prevents efficient heat transfer by forming an insulated layer on the surface of heating elements. Moreover, scaling increases the pressure drop in the process and consequently it raises maintenance costs and even leads to system shut down. Using antiscalants is considered the most promising method to control Scale formation. To this end, antiscalants are added to the process water. These compounds have received a lot of attention due to the fact that they can control the deposition by the low values and coverage of several mechanisms and can be used simultaneously with the process and do not have significant waste. Antiscalants disrupt the scaling process through a variety of mechanisms including threshold effect, crystal modification, dispersion or sequestration. In the current study, Scale formation process and the role of antiscalants are discussed.

Abstract:

In the present study, the prediction of dehydrated calcium sulfate sedimentation was studied in the oil system and the presence of electrolytic solution. In this study, in order to predict the amount of sediment, two equations for activity coefficient and constant thermodynamic equilibrium have been studied. The Extended UNIQUAC activity factor model has been used to investigate and determine the calcium sulfate mineralization index. The performance of this model is desirable in electrolytic systems and its coefficients are optimized based on empirical results. The results of this study were compared to experimental data, Pitzer and NRTL models, and the result of OLI3. 2 software for the prediction of anhydrite mineral deposition. Based on the results, the total relative error of anhydrite precipitation prediction compared to the experimental results in the Extended UNIQUAC, Pitzer, and NRTL models and OLI3. 2 software are 0. 41(41%), 0. 44 (44. 72%), 0. 53 (53%), and 0. 99 (99%), respectively. Also, based on the results of the optimized model and the experimental results, the solubility of calcium sulfate precipitation in the presence of magnesium chloride and calcium chloride decreases with increasing temperature. By comparing the calculated results, it can be concluded that the proposed model has good accuracy. In this study, the pressure range was 25 to 250 bar and the temperature ranged from 1 to 300 ° C.
